New investment on Deburring machine improves efficiency and quality across our manufacturing

New deburring technology is helping improve efficiency, increase output and deliver a more consistent finish across our manufacturing.

We have invested in a new deburring machine strengthening our fabrication capabilities across both ExMesh Engineering and The Expanded Metal Company.

While the investment sits within our security and fabrication division, the benefits extend across the wider business. It supports a range of products and applications, helping us improve efficiency, consistency and overall quality.

Faster processing. Better output

We have also introduced compressed air cutting for thicker materials.

This allows us to cut up to three times faster than oxygen cutting which we used previously. At the same time, we achieve around 10% more parts per plate, increasing output while reducing material waste.

Improved quality from the start

Compressed air cutting introduces less heat into the material. This reduces distortion and results in more consistent parts straight off the machine.

The process can leave a rougher edge but the new deburring machine removes this quickly and cleanly, delivering a smooth and high-quality finish.

Works across multiple materials

The machine can process metals including steel, stainless steel, aluminium and even copper.

This gives us the flexibility to maintain consistent quality across a wide range of applications, not just within security products.

What this means for you

  • Faster lead times
  • Consistent, high-quality parts
  • Improved finish
  • Better value through more efficient production

Continuous improvement in action

Ryan Pinder, Continuous Improvement Manager, said: “This investment is about making our processes more efficient without compromising on quality. By combining faster cutting with effective deburring, we are improving consistency across our parts while increasing output.

It gives us more control, less waste and ultimately a better result for our customers.”

A continued focus on investment

This is part of our ongoing investment in manufacturing capability.

By improving how we produce across both ExMesh Engineering and The Expanded Metal Company, we are better placed to deliver reliable, high-quality solutions for our customers.
